What happens when two middle-aged best friends plan some R&R together in the city after a long winter in their small northern town? A lot more than they bargained for! Things get off to a rocky start when the hotel they booked refuses to accomodate Louise’s constant canine companion, Vincent Van Gogh. Since all the hotels in Thunder Bay are booked for a major conference, Louise and Margaret are forced to spend the night in a dodgy establishment over a strip club.

The next morning, the body of the casino manager is found near the church where the retreat is being held. Ever-intrepid Louise becomes intrigued with the circumstances surrounding the murder and drags Margaret, against her better judgment into investigating. Their search takes them all over the city, where they encounter a whole cast of possible suspects, including a dangerously lovelorn church organist, a stripper-turned barmaid, a fiery anti-gambling septuagenarian, and a widow with expensive tastes. But are they getting too close to the truth for their own good?
